The young country folk woman with her orange harvest riding a cart being pulled along the rough road leading to Citta’ Vecchia.
The produce the land had to offer was given a lot of significance in the advertising campaigns for Malta. The outstanding quality of the fruit captured the interest of many travellers who described the taste of the Maltese oranges as the best in Europe.
A street scene with mule drawn carts or carriages and Mdina as a backdrop in the distance was a very typical site used in Malta travel postcards.
