Built in the 1870s, the Dragonara Palace originally served as a private summer residence for the Marquis Emmanuele Scicluna - a prominent banker of the time.

The Palace - built in neoclassical design characterised by its symmetrical form - was later converted into Malta’s first casino in 1964. It was a time when St Julians and nearby Paceville began its transition from a mainly rural area to a prime leisure hub.

As the entertainment scene in St Julians thrived, the Dragonara Casino became an iconic landmark attracting both locals and visitors from various countries .
