The Valletta Files
The Valletta Files is the first publication by Maltese architect Chris Briffa. The book details a selection of Architectural, Interior, and Visual Art projects located in Malta’s capital city of Valletta. These projects span a wide range of retail, residential, commercial, public and personal projects undertaken by the Chris Briffa Architects studio over the studio's first 15 years, released in 2019.
Chris Briffa Architects have been closely associated to this town since the studio’s early days. Valletta Files is both introspective and interactive: with Briffa recounting his own, personal experiences about their most noteworthy projects, while inviting diverse guests to write about theirs.
The chronological account contemplates on early works such as Two-Twentytwo; depicts proposals for the Old Market and Valletta’s pedestrianization; and invites us inside the architect’s own home and working environments. This visual journey is both entertaining and informative, while giving testimony that contemporary architecture in the UNESCO-heritage town can be as successful as its elder counterparts.
