Xibka tal-Lampuki (Surrounding Net)

The dolphinfish, known as lampuki in Maltese, are captured using “fish aggregating devices” called kannizzati. These small rafts float on the sea and are anchored to the seabed. Once the lampuki gather, they’re caught with surrounding nets.

The lampuki season runs from September to November and is vital to the Maltese fishing industry.
