Partner is one of three works that explores Sherry's relationships with three men who have held significance in their life. Marked by dynamics of domination, submission, and the search for freedom.
Using a combination of embroidery and bondage techniques, Sherry delves into the interplay between control and liberation. Chains, synthetic leathers, and threads are used to symbolise the tension between domination and submission. While embroidery signifies the fragile yet enduring connections.
Sherry (Hasan Hüseyin Karabulut) was born and raised in Istanbul and recently moved to Malta after some years living as a nomad making dreadlocks and art. Sherry practices different interdisciplinary arts and crafts such as embroidery, drawing, sewing, and jewelry making. They work full-time for a local NGO and are a massage and trauma release therapist.
