Growing up asexual, Kyra had to accept that she was part of a community that only forms around 1% of the global population. This isolation is further heightened by the realisation that she also lives in a country as small as Malta. Thankfully, Malta's progressive queer rights allow Kyra the opportunity to live amongst and be part of a supportive and loving community.
'Where's The Ace' is a traditional ink-on-paper illustration. The LGBTQI+ community is often associated with bright rainbow colours. Only purple is visible in this illustration of Malta Pride as it is the colour that represents asexuality. Kyra invites you to explore all the hidden details within the illustration in a Where's Wally-inspired composition while asking you to find - you guessed it - the ace!
Kyra Lautier is an asexual illustrator who works prominently in the performing arts industry. Following her B.A. (Hons) in Performing Arts course, her experience in marketing and poster design influenced her to pursue an Advanced Diploma in Digital Design. Kyra is currently performing in Busli Collective’s queer theatre production, SaferGrounds, at Theatre Next Door, Magħtab, from the 20th to the 22nd of September.
