Johann proudly allows his pansexuality to shine with this artwork. A reflection of coming to terms with one's sexuality, experiencing puberty while feeling like an outsider at an all-boys school, and feeling different without the words to express oneself.
The pages making up the background of MY TRUE COLOURS, are meticulously chosen from textbooks of the artist's time in secondary school. The flowers depicted on top of the pansexual colours represent sensuality (jasmine), prosperity (narcissus), and rebirth (daffodil).
