Marka+Stampa: Open Call for Printmakers

Marka+Stampa market will take place from the 5th-9th of November 2025, during the opening hours of the Book Festival.

What is Marka+Stampa?
Marka+Stampa is an independent art market focused on print media and art prints. It is designed to introduce the public to the art form of printmaking whilst also promoting local printmakers, zine makers and illustrators while providing a platform for both emerging creatives and established professionals to engage with the public. Through this event we wish to promote a diverse, friendly community for both the artists and the public right here in Malta.

So, why Marka+Stampa?
Well, that’s easy - we really love all things print, and we want to encourage other people to love it too! We aim to support up-and-coming talent, nurture the public’s interest and act as a bridge between the two.

Printmaking is an accessible and democratic art form, which makes it very appealing to a wide array of artists and audiences. Part of our aim with Karta+Stampais to encourage a growing print culture in Malta. Through the marketplace and dedicated workshops, we will engage the public, educate them about the possibilities of these artistic techniques, as well as create a dialogue between the public and the artists. The festival will enable contacts to be created, resources to be shared and serve as a basis of opportunity and participation for all involved.

Marka+Stampa is based on 'PrintFest CPH' that Michelle Gruppetta organised twice in Copenhagen, and it was a resounding success. She saw that there was a lot of interest in this event and is excited to now bring it to Malta.

Is Marka+Stampa for you?
Whether you are an artist, a hobbyist or someone who isn’t artistic at all, we want Marka+Stampa to have something to offer for everyone- whether it be a beautiful print, a chance to attend one of the workshops and create your own, or even just a conversation opportunity.

“Print lends itself to accessibility – you dont have to be able to draw to make a print, or even be particularly creative. This is why its the perfect art-form to share with people of mixed abilities, children and even your ‘mamgu’ “. (Tom - The Printhaus)

Marka+Stampa is supported by the National Book Council of Malta, MCAST and the Malta Community of Illustrators
