The Big Gay Art Show is back!

Get ready to unleash your inner rainbow because The Big Gay Art Show at Cafe Society is back and brighter than ever! This is the chance to dazzle the world with creativity and show off the colourful tapestry of Malta's LGBTQ+ community.

We’re calling on all artists, dreamers, and doers to submit their most splendid works. Whether you’re an established artist or a newbie with a passion for all things glitter and glam, we want to see how you express the beauty, strength, and joy of the LGBTQ+ community.

Submission Guidelines:

• Eligibility: We accept visual art pieces created by Malta's diverse LGBTQ+ community and allies. If you feel that fits you, you qualify :)
• Mediums: Bring on the paint, photography, mixed media, digital art, and more! Anything that can be hung on the wall.
• No Theme: We just want to celebrate the unbridled creativity of Malta's queer community!
• Submission Limit: Show us up to five pieces of your most dazzling work, though pieces may be selected individually and not necessarily as a set;
• Delivery: If chosen, artworks must be provided ready to be hung (e.g. framed) and be delivered to il-lokal Valletta between 26 August and 2 September;
• Auction: The artworks will be sold by silent auction at il-lokal, with the artists receiving 100% of sales.

How to Submit:

1. Submission Form: Fill out the SUBMISSION FORM with all the juicy details.
2. Images: Upload high-quality images of your pieces. Label each file with your name and the title of the work;
3. Specification:  Dimensions in cm for each artwork (including frame) and medium;
4. Description: Write a brief description (up to 200 words) for the body of work proposed for the exhibition sharing its glittering significance;
5. Artist Bio: Give us a peek into your life with a short bio (up to 100 words); Your photo and social media handles are more than welcome, but optional. 

Important Dates:

• Submission Deadline: Sunday, August 18, 2024, midnight
• Notification of Acceptance: August 24, 2024
• Delivery of Artwork: Get your art to il-lokal Valletta by September 2, 2024.
• Opening: September 5, 2024 – time to party!

As always, we will have a kick-ass exhibition opening party on Thursday, September 5, where guests can meet the artists and select from a cocktail menu of drinks inspired by the art. DJ will be on the decks from 8 pm, so come by to have a boogie with us and enjoy the celebration of the amazing creativity of our queer family as we kick off Malta Pride to remember!
